CORPORATE PARTNERS

Biolex Therapeutics: sustained release alfa interferon
In a co-development collaboration with Biolex, we have developed a controlled release formulation of recombinant human alfa interferon. The product, named Locteron®, combines OctoPlus’ proprietary biodegradable PolyActive® drug delivery technology with Biolex’ BLX-883, a recombinant alfa interferon produced in its proprietary LEX System™. Locteron is designed to be more convenient for patients with chronic hepatitis C. The product and all of its rights were licensed to Biolex in October 2008. For more information on Locteron, click here.

Inamed: pulmonary delivery
Through its partnership with Germany-based InAmed, OctoPlus offers two inhaler technologies. The electronic AKITA™ system is regulatory-approved and proven to be effective in targeting drugs precisely to a desired region of the lung. The FLABS™ (Flow Limited Aerosol Balloon System) provides the same benefits but by mechanical means, thereby making it portable. OctoPlus can formulate an aerosol or dry powder formulation of your active drug to meet your needs for an optimal deposition in the desired pulmonal region.

InnoCore: SynBiosys™ drug delivery system
OctoPlus has entered into a collaboration with InnoCore, the Netherlands, to develop and market this novel injectable drug delivery platform. SynBiosys™ is an innovative biodegradable polymeric drug delivery system for the controlled release of small and medium-sized biologically active compounds. Its physical and degradation characteristics can be easily adjusted, which allows the development of microsphere, film or implant formulations with adjustable sustained release for periods of 2 weeks up to 6 months. SynBiosys™ offers excellent opportunities to extend patent protection and upgrade current products. For more information, click here.

Leiden University Medical Centre: OP-145
OctoPlus has licensed the OP-145 product from Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands, to clinically develop the proprietary therapeutic product. OP-145 is a novel peptide for the treatment of mucosal infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The product has an innovative mechanism of action that neutralizes bacterial toxins and restores the host’s defense mechanism. The product’s first focus is on treatment of chronic middle ear infections (chronic otitis media). For more information, click here.
